〈CHEOLSAN4DONG PEOPLE〉 is a photographic work that attempts to hold together, through a process of communication, the individuality and agency of the people of Cheolsan4dong and the area’s sense of place. Through a preliminary questionnaire, I asked the residents participating in the work for their opinions on the neighborhood locations they wanted to remember through the photograph, as well as on staging, composition, gaze, atmosphere, clothing, and props, and I reflected these in the work. The photographs were made in the form of self-portraits, with the model pressing the shutter directly at the moment they chose. I inscribed each individual’s memories, narratives, and emotions concerning the neighborhood in the photograph from the resident’s own perspective.
